The 7th International Nanoscience Student Conference, London, 19–22 August 2013

С 19 по 22 августа 2013 года в Лондонском центре нанотехнологий состоится седьмая международная студенческая нанотехнологическая конференция.

The London Centre for Nanotechnology, a joint venture between University College London and Imperial College London, will be hosting the 7th INASCON (International Nanoscience Student Conference) from the 19th – 22nd August 2013.

INASCON is an annual conference organised specifically for students. It aims to offer a platform for over a hundred final year Bachelor, Master and PhD students from the international community to exchange ideas, while extending their academic network. Students will gain insight into state-of-the-art nanoscience through lectures and workshops, get an opportunity to present their research alongside world-renowned scientists and will explore career options in both academia and industry. The event is also kindly sponsored by the Swiss Nanoscience Institute, the University of Cambridge Nano Doctoral Training Centre, Nature Nanotechnology, Lockheed Martin, BioNano Consulting, the Nanotechnology Knowledge Transfer Network and Thorlabs.

Registration is open until 1st August 2013. The registration fee includes accommodation in central London for the first 100 registrants (if required), food, lectures, workshops and conference material, it is £100 per attending student. Places are assigned on a first come, first serve basis.

Highlights of the conference will include:

  • a workshop on scientific publishing run by the chief editor of Nature Nanotechnology, Fabio Pulizzi.
  • talks by LCN academics Prof. Milo Schaffer, Prof. Alex Seifalian, Prof. Richard Jackman and Prof. Steve Bramwell.
  • a talk by chief technologist and director of research science at Lockheed Martin, Dr. Brent M. Segal.
  • a workshop on Atomic Force Microscopy run by Dr. Steve Hudziak of the UCL Nanotechnology Laboratory at the Department of Electronics and Electrical Engineering.
  • a formal networking session with industry delegates.
  • evening activities: a traditional British pub evening, a round of football/informal discussions at Regent's Park and time to explore London!
